This afternoon, after school, I went to Red Robin for the first time in my life. My journey started there, and got off to a disappointing start. After eating only poptarts for breakfast at six in the morning, I was starving by one this afternoon. So I sat down at the table, and ordered their bacon cheeseburger. Their claim, in the description under the name of the burger, read as follows: "We claim this to be the best bacon cheeseburger in the known burger universe."
Sadly, that statement was far from true.
Their presentation was good. As my burger came from the kitchen, a choir of angels sang, and a holy light shone down from the heavens on our waitress, Amy. Oh, forgive me. That was my stomach talking as I hungrily watched the waitress bring our food. The burger looked delicious, truthfully. Can't you tell from the picture how delicious that burger looked?
I opened it up, shocked by the huge pile of shredded lettuce that had been shoved into the bun, added ketchup and chowed down.
This burger did not live up to my expectations. The flavor was good, but my first bite was overwhelmed by the taste of the cheese. The bacon was only good as long as it was mixed with all the other flavors; when I ate a piece of it that fell out of the burger, it was terrible. The flavor of it was just... blah. Although I enjoyed it a fair amount at first, by the time I reached the last few bites, I realized that it was all just kind of mediocre. It was good, but there was nothing spectacular about it. It was just a plain old burger.
My only true complaint?
There was too much lettuce. I couldn't enjoy the burger that was buried under that huge pile of lettuce. Other than that, it was decent.
